Unlocking Potential with the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE): Format, Sections, and Versions
The Test of Adult Basic Education was developed in 1967, by McGraw-Mill. The TABE practice test is evaluating an adult’s academic aptitude and capabilities for higher education programs and professional training courses.
TABE Test Format
The TABE test required students to pass 40 minutes short TABE-Testlet to be eligible for the actual test. TABE assesses student ability in two subjects English Language Art and Mathematics. These subjects are subdivided into five sections. The TBAE test takes approximately 3 hours and 40 minutes to complete.
TABE Mathematics Section
1) Mathematical computations
The mathematical computation of TABE consists of 40 questions to assess students’ mathematical knowledge and capabilities.
2) Applied Mathematical
TBAE Applied Mathematics section assesses a student’s capability to resolve his daily and professional life problems by utilizing mathematical rules and regulations.
TABE Version
There are four versions of TABE. Every version is specified for specific educational qualifications and specific professional programs.

- TABE – CLAS – E
TABE 11&12
TABE 11&12 is the main version of the TABE practice test. Most of the teachers and students are considering it as a base test. TBAE 11&12 assesses student’s ability to deal with real-world problems with their literacy, Mathematic and language skills.
1) The literacy test of TABE 11&12 is assessed student reading, writing proficiency.
2) The language test has questions that evaluate student skills to communicate in real life.
3) The mathematics part of the exam ensures that the student is qualified to manage his economical and mathematical issues of professional or educational life.
