State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR)
The STAAR practice test was designed by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. STAAR tests’ motive is to assure that, all students from third through 12th grade acquire standardized knowledge and skills that they need to be academically and professionally successful.Â
STAARÂ Tests
The number of tests your child takes each year will depend on what grade he is in. Grade 3-8 tests in Reading, Mathematics, and Writing at grades 4 and 7 also add Science at grades 5 and 8, Social Studies also included. End-of-course (EOC) assessments for English me, English II, Algebra I, Biology, and U. S history.
STAARÂ Mathematics test
The STAAR math test consists of the basic mathematical concept in early grade while in high grade, it assesses student’s ability to apply these mathematical concepts in solving real-world problems. Math test covers the areas, Number systems, Ratio and Proportion, Basic Algebra, Geometry, and Data Analysis. It is a multi-choice format and the question’s difficulty level increases with grade level.
STAARÂ Reading test
STAARÂ Reading test contains long reading passages and comprehension questions. Students have to read three to five passages and answer 36 to 44 multiple choice questions according to the grade.
STAARÂ writing test
The STAAR test for 4th grade and 7th grade requires that students compose an expository essay within 26 lines.
STAARÂ Sciences test
Science tests assess students, ability to observations, making hypotheses, and find a conclusion in general and natural science activities.
STAARÂ Social Studies test
STAAR Social Studies topics are world geography, U.S. government and citizenship, civil war, and basic economic principles.
STAARÂ End of Course
STAARÂ EOC high school students are eligible to take, and It comprises English 1 and 2, Algebra 1, biology, and Us history test.
