Introduction to the ACT Aspire Assessment

The ACT Aspire assessment exam is something that is used in public schools, primarily in Arkansas but is used in several other states. This exam is designed to acquire information about students and if they are where they need to be in their grade level.  The ACT Aspire is typically taken by students between 3rd grade and early high school (either 9th or 10th grade) before they take the ACT exam in their junior year of high school. The ACT Aspire board identifies the number and percentage of students that are currently on track to meet their college readiness requirements on the ACT. The ACT Aspire is a great way for students to predict how they will do on the ACT and make accommodations that they need in order to achieve higher if they so desire.

The ACT Aspire exam tests 5 different areas. English, math, science, and writing. The exam consists of multiple-choice and short answers, with an essay in the language arts exams. This exam is typically 4 hours and 45 minutes long, and each subject has a time limit.

The overall ACT Aspire score is calculated by the individual scores of all subtests. The better students do on each subtest the better their overall score. Scores are categorized in three ways, Basic, Proficient, and Advanced. The category a student’s score falls into is a representation of their understanding of the topics.

Our workbooks focus on the ACT Aspire Mathematics Test.  Students are assessed on whether or not they have the math skills that are required at their grade level.
