PARCC Test: Assessing Academic Progress with Math and Language Arts Components

The PARCC test was designed by a group of 8 states of the United States to align with the Common Core State Standard. The PARCC provides better information about students’ academic development from kindergarten to high school.

PARCC Test

This test is intended to be used as an indicator of student needs in progress for teachers to address. Test scores are marked on levels 1 to Level 5, Levels 4 and 5 indicating that students are performing well, and levels 1 to 3 demonstrate that students need help. This test consists of two components: Math and English/language arts. Each component has a specific format and timing.

PARCC Test Mathematics

The PARCC math assessment section requires students to solve problems in a multi-step solutions format because the math assessment questions involve real-life situations. Students must utilize reasoning and logic rather than memorize procedures. PARCC Math assessment measures students, ‘ understanding, fluency, and application ability of mathematical concepts on a grade-appropriate basis.
PARCC Test Language Art

In the PARCC English/language arts portion students either watch a video or need to read passages according to their grades and then answer multiple-choice questions and write responses based on answers and texts on what they’ve learned.

Practice tests are the best resources that have been developed to allow students and educators to experience the computer-based format, item types, and technology features on the real PARCC practice test.
